Livestock Show and Sale Generates More Than $625,000 for Projects
The CFISD community generously supported student projects at the 31st Annual CFISD Livestock Show Association Show and Sale, held Jan. 30-Feb. 1 at the CFISD Exhibit Center.
Official totals for this year’s sale raised more than $625,000. The premium sale (live auction) raised $430,900. The freezer sale (animals not placing high enough for the live auction) totaled $153,752. The agriculture mechanics and horticulture silent auction raised $33,157.50, and $7,591.50 was awarded through royalty scholarships and cash prizes. Monetary donations and t-shirt sales are still being calculated.
Cypress Ranch High School senior Hailey Poulson had the Grand Champion Swine at the 31st Annual CFISD Livestock Show Association Show and Sale, which sold for $20,000 to Conda Maze JRP LLC and Lindner Feed.
The 31st Annual CFISD Livestock Show Association (LSA) Show and Sale was dedicated to Denise Kubecka, former director of career and technical education, for her years of service to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and the CFISD Livestock Show and Sale. The LSA presented Kubecka with a dedication banner and buckle.
“I am incredibly proud of the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD agriculture students who compete in this annual event,” said Mark Williams, director of career and technical education. “Their success is a testament to their dedication, commitment and the passion of their agriculture science instructors. Our students, instructors and agriculture program exemplify the incredible opportunities we provide.”
Cypress Ranch High School junior Luke O’Rear had the Grand Champion Broilers at the 31st Annual CFISD Livestock Show Association Show and Sale, which sold for $11,000 to Towne Lake-Caldwell Co.
The following Livestock Royalty representatives, chosen at the royalty contest, were onsite to assist with award presentations:
