Annual Superintendent’s Fun Run raises $80,000 for CFEF

CFISD staff, students, community members and business partners gathered at the Berry Center and Cy-Fair FCU Stadium for the 11th Superintendent’s Fun Run on March 29. The fundraiser concluded with CFISD and Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital representatives presenting a check worth $80,000 to the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF).

The event featured a 5K run and 1-mile family-friendly walk/run. The 5K course featured a route through Towne Lake and Lone Star College—CyFair. The 1-mile family walk path wound through the walkways of Cy-Fair FCU Stadium and featured high school inflatable tunnels on the field, spirit teams and groups cheering on participants.

Sponsor and vendor booths, food trucks, a children’s play area and student performances entertained participants and guests throughout the duration of the event.

“Saturday’s Fun Run was an amazing event,” said Dr. Douglas Killian, CFISD superintendent of schools. “Thanks to all the participants, volunteers, donors and kids, we were able to raise $80,000 towards scholarships for our students. I am so thankful to be involved in such an awesome community event with such great support for our kids.”

The event drew nearly 6,500 total race participants. In addition, more than 3,000 registered for the sleep-in pass that served as a donation to support the CFEF without participating in one of the races.
