Five CFISD water polo teams advance to region tournaments
Five CFISD water polo teams advanced past the region quarterfinal round of the Class 6A playoffs and move on to the Region II-6A and Region III-6A tournaments.
In District 16-6A, the Cypress Creek High School girls’ team defeated Houston Westside, 21-4, and advance to their fourth consecutive Region II-6A Tournament. The Cougars advance to face Brazoswood at 5 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the Lamar High School Natatorium (3325 Westheimer Road).
The Cy-Fair High School girls’ team defeated Houston Lamar, 14-1, to advance to their first Region II-6A Tournament in program history. The Bobcats will play Clear Falls at 6:10 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the Lamar High School Natatorium.
The Cypress Woods High School boys’ team defeated Houston Lamar, 11-10, to advance to their first Region II-6A Tournament in program history. The Wildcats will meet Clear Creek at 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the Lamar High School Natatorium.
For the Region II-6A Tournament, tickets are $15 each for adults and $8 each for students. Tickets can be purchased online. The winning girls’ teams will advance to the region final and play at 2 p.m. on Oct. 18. The winning boys’ teams will advance to the region final and play at 4 p.m. on Oct. 18. Region final matches will take place at the Lamar High School Natatorium.
In District 20-6A, the Bridgeland High School girls’ team defeated Stratford, 13-8, to advance to their fourth consecutive Region III-6A Tournament. The Bears advance to play Cedar Ridge at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the CFISD Natatorium (12550 Windfern Road).
The Bridgeland High School boys’ team defeated Stratford, 8-7, to advance to their first Region III-6A Tournament in program history. The Bears will face Round Rock at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 17 at the CFISD Natatorium.

For the Region III-6A Tournament, tickets are $12 each for adults and $8 each for students. Tickets can be purchased online. The winning boys’ teams will advance to the region final and play at 10 a.m. on Oct. 18. The winning girls’ teams will advance to the region final and play at noon on Oct. 18. Region final matches will take place at the CFISD Natatorium.
