The Grand Prairie welcomes Shea Homes® to homebuilder lineup in fast-growing Hockley, TX Community

The Grand Prairie, a top-selling Texas master-planned community developed in Hockley by EMBER, announces the addition of award-winning Shea Homes to its select group of homebuilders, adding new home designs that complement the community and support its continued growth.

Located 35 miles from downtown Houston, The Grand Prairie is a 1,730-acre master-planned community ideally situated six miles west of the Grand Parkway and one mile south of US 290.  Located within the Waller Independent School District, the community features abundant natural amenities including four recreational lakes and miles of nature trails. Slated to open in 2026 is The Sundancer complex with resort-style swimming pool, splash park, playground, community center, and The Overlook, a 40-foot elevation offering sweeping views of the community’s breathtaking prairie sunsets. 

At the Grand Prairie, Shea Homes will offer single-family homes with prices anticipated to start in the $440,000s.  Homebuyers can choose from four- and five-bedroom floor plans ranging from 2,438 to 4,117 square feet. Many floor plans offer personalized options, from fireplaces and extended patios to flexible spaces that transform into guest suites, studies and playrooms. The model home is expected to open in Spring 2026. Shea Homes joins a unique section of The Grand Prairie offering homes on 60-, 65- and 70-foot homesites.

Currently, Hockley ranks #4 on the list of “10 Hottest Communities in the Houston Area,” issued quarterly by the Houston Association of Realtors.

Visitors can begin their tour at The Grand Prairie’s award-winning Welcome Center and explore ten stunning model homes open daily.  When fully complete, The Grand Prairie community will include about 6,000 homes on 1,730 acres.
