The STN Challenge gives students six days to produce a variety of broadcast and film projects based on provided prompts. The challenge provides AVP students with the chance to put their skills to the test in a real-world, deadline-driven scenario.

Cypress Woods chose the PSA category and titled their announcement “You Are More Than Your Feed,” which had to show a clear contract between online identity and real life and have an intentional visual shift separating digital life from reality.

“I couldn’t be prouder of this special group of students,” said Lori Andrade, Cypress Woods AVP teacher. “Having worked with them for three years, I’ve seen their talent grow firsthand, but seeing them secure our program’s first-ever first place STN Challenge win is truly a record book moment. Their dedication is superb and this win gives us incredible momentum as we head to the STN National Convention in February. We’re coming for more wins!”

The STN Challenge had more than 940 entries across approximately 43 categories with more than 190 schools represented from across the country. Entries were judged by a team of 18 industry professionals who have won Emmy Awards, are network news employees and industry leaders with experience working for NetflixCBSParamount, NBCUniversal and more.
