Barkley’s Bookshelf Celebrates Its Fourth Anniversary

Reflecting on the accomplishments of the last four years, we thank our valued stakeholders for joining us in championing children’s literacy in NW Houston. Since our founding on March 14, 2022, Barkley’s Bookshelf has focused on bringing books to young readers where they are. Highlights include:
- The distribution of 25,000-plus free books to underserved students
- The impact on 13,200 plus young readers who became book owners
- The creation of the Summer Reading Program, ensuring students have reading materials during the school break
- The installation of the Barkley’s Bookshelf reading nook at the PTSD Foundation of America-Camp Hope
- The success of our annual fundraiser, the Reading is Believing Campaign, which raised funds to support free book fairs at three Title 1 schools
