The near-mythical creatures that walked the earth long, long ago inspired the first drawings on cave walls, legendary dragon stories, some of the greatest movie music ever — and now a Houston Symphony show even bigger than the Patagotitan mayorum Titanosaur. In other words, this is a big deal. This show is for kiddos who love T-Rexes and Triceratops, for grown-ups who love to get a little Jurassic, and for classical music lovers who are already thinking about their favorite compositions about mythical creatures. The Houston Symphony is thrilled to overwhelm you with the power and wonder of dinosaurs and transport us all back to When Instruments Roamed the Earth. This special event will also feature Hats off to Reading, celebrating the joy of books, curiosity, and imagination. No Ticket Required! Gates open at 6:30 PM, Show starts at 07:30 PM. Some music isn’t just meant to be played. It’s meant to be felt, stretched, explored, and lived in. Dead Symphony brings the free-flowing, improvisational spirit of jam bands like Grateful Dead and Phish into a new dimension — performed by the incredible local musicians of the Woodlands Symphony Orchestra, led by Darryl Bayer. This isn’t a note-for-note recreation. It’s a reinterpretation — where symphonic textures meet extended grooves, where melodies evolve, and where every song has a life of its own. Expect swirling soundscapes, unexpected turns, and the kind of musical journey that rewards you for leaning in and letting go. Whether you’re a longtime jam-band devotee or just curious what happens when orchestral musicians tap into that same exploratory energy, Dead Symphony is a night built for discovery. Learn More
