Paperweight Collectors and Glass Artists Gather in Cypress for Special October Event
The Paperweight Collectors Association of Texas (PCA-TX) invites collectors, artists, glass enthusiasts and curious newcomers to a special gathering devoted to the art and history of glass paperweights on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in Cypress, Texas. The event is free and open to the public.
The gathering will take place at the Residence Inn Houston Northwest/Cypress, with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. and programming beginning at 10:00 a.m. The meeting is expected to conclude at approximately 3:00 p.m.
Far more than simply functional desk objects, fine glass paperweights have been collected as miniature works of art since their emergence in Europe during the mid-19th century. Antique examples from celebrated French factories such as Baccarat, Clichy and Saint-Louis are avidly collected today, while contemporary glass artists continue to push the medium in remarkable new directions.
The October gathering offers visitors a rare opportunity to see exceptional examples of antique and contemporary paperweights firsthand, meet collectors and artists, learn how these intricate objects are made, and discover the history of this fascinating area of decorative art.
Featured Guest: Eric Jump
Guest dealer and speaker Eric Jump is President of the national Paperweight Collectors Association, Inc. and owner of The Paperweight Collection, a California-based gallery specializing in antique and contemporary glass paperweights and related glass art.
Jump has been involved in the paperweight field for more than 15 years as a collector, dealer, researcher and advocate for the art form. He will bring a selection of paperweights to Texas for visitors to examine and purchase and will share his knowledge of the history, artistry and collecting of paperweights.
Featured Glass Artist: Stephen Boehme
The meeting will also welcome glass artist Stephen Boehme, who will be making his first appearance at a PCA-TX meeting.
Boehme’s intricate work demonstrates the extraordinary precision and technical skill possible in contemporary glass. Visitors will have an opportunity to see examples of his work and hear directly from an artist working within the modern studio-glass tradition.
In addition to the featured presentations, the day will include opportunities to meet fellow collectors, view and purchase glass, participate in show-and-tell, and learn from members of the paperweight community.
No previous knowledge of paperweights is necessary. Glass enthusiasts, antique collectors, art lovers, students, artists and anyone simply curious about this unusual art form are encouraged to attend.
