Cy-Fair Helping Hands Gears Up for 5th Annual Back to School Bash
Excitement is building as Cy-Fair Helping Hands prepares to welcome hundreds of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD families to its 5th Annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Community Church, 7550 Cherry Park Drive, Houston, TX 77095.
One of the nonprofit’s most anticipated events of the year, the Back to School Bash is expected to draw more than 1,000 CFISD students and their families for a morning filled with free backpacks and school supplies, games, food, entertainment, and valuable community resources.
“The excitement is building at Cy-Fair Helping Hands as we get closer to the date,” said Pat Hudson, Director of Community Outreach. “The purpose of this event is to provide backpacks and school supplies for financially strapped Cypress-Fairbanks ISD families while kicking off the new school year with an exciting morning filled with entertainment, food, and fun.”
To ensure the event reaches families with the greatest need, Cy-Fair Helping Hands has registered pantry clients while also partnering with Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, utilizing social media, and reaching out to neighboring apartment communities throughout the district.
“We work closely with the Harris County Resources for Children and Adults’ Community Youth Services staff to ensure that any backpacks not distributed at the Back to School Bash are delivered to CFISD campuses serving low-income students,” Hudson explained.
The event truly showcases the power of community collaboration. More than 10 Cy-Fair churches and over 20 businesses, civic organizations, and community partners will host carnival-style games and interactive activities for children throughout the morning.
Families will also enjoy hands-on demonstrations and educational exhibits presented by local first responders, including the Cy-Fair Fire Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and CFISD Canine Officers and their handlers, who will share important safety, health, and nutrition information.
Children attending the event will have opportunities to:
- Receive a new backpack filled with school supplies (while supplies last)
- Select books to build their home libraries
- Enjoy hot dogs, popcorn, chips, and frozen treats
- Learn cheers from the Cypress Ranch Mustang Cheerleaders
- Choose from a selection of school-appropriate clothing donated by the community
- Participate in games, activities, and interactive demonstrations throughout the event
“We have a few surprises up our sleeves and can’t wait to share them with our CFISD families,” Hudson added.
