1.     Share about yourself and your background.

I am an unbiased leader and have dedicated my life to education and community advocacy – my focus is student outcomes. For more than 20 years I have focused on student outcomes as the core of my service. I have served on several education and youth-related boards and founded/ran a non-profit. My experience in the field of education includes extensive research on educational programs and youth development stages for students of all capabilities.  I attended CISD from fourth grade until graduating from TWHS more than 15 years ago, and I received my bachelor’s from Texas Christian University (TCU) and my master’s from Rice University. I have worked in oil and gas as a strategic marketing leader for most of my career.  Outside of my professional life as a strategic marketing leader I spend my time serving youth and our community.

2.     What motivates you to run for the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees?

I am motivated to run by the high percentage of at-risk youth, special education needs and early detection of dyslexia and autism, mental health resource limitations, teacher retention crisis, and to make sure all students can participate in programs and extracurricular activities while receiving the high-quality education they require and deserve. No student should fall through the cracks, and we must focus on the entire educational experience as it relates to student outcomes. I knew I would run for Conroe ISD Board of Trustees in high school. I greatly benefited from the strong leadership of the Board as a student, and I want to deliver the same experience to all our students. Again, it is so important to focus on the educational experience of our students and teachers, the resources available to them, the access they have to support and mental health resources, and activities and organizations.

3.     What are 5 things that you want voters to know about you (personal, points, views, experience, etc.)?

  1. I will vote to make sure the budget reflects and serves the needs of the entire district.
  2. I will serve with absolute transparency, be present and accessible.
  3. I do (and will continue) to support our students, parents, teachers, librarians, administrators, law enforcement, and staff; and, I will work to strengthen the relationships among all stakeholders to increase the positive impact on all involved in the educational experience.
  4. Maintain and further strengthen the district’s ability to deliver a safe environment that promotes learning.
  5. I will continue to lead with character and integrity, build trust, respect family values, and remain focused on educational outcomes.

4.     If elected, what would your top 3 priorities be?

  1. Educational outcomes and a budget that reflects all items required to improve positive outcomes: special education/mental health resources, teacher retention, student/teacher ratios, programs/extracurricular.
  2. Safety. The district has improved its safety plan, and I believe Fentanyl should be incorporated into the district’s security safety plan and provide training on detection of substance abuse to identify early, act quickly, and save lives.
  3. Growth Planning. We must more frequently assess forecasted growth in order to adequately plan for the future and avoid situations, as much as possible, that hinder learning, teaching efficacy, and safety.  This includes developing sound bonds.

5. Would you like to share any other words or message?

I have truly dedicated my life to education and community advocacy, and I have the most experience serving a broad demographic of students. My experience is critical to my ability to effectively serve our 70,000+ (and growing) diverse student community. I lead with integrity, am unbiased, and I believe our district will improve with my service and dedication to All Means All.
