Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital’s new dialysis center and expanded ICU now open
Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital’s $100 million expansion is well underway, with a new dialysis center now open and an expanded intensive care unit (ICU) equipped to serve more patients.
The dialysis unit will benefit postoperative patients and admitted patients who require continued dialysis. The dedicated suite is located on the fifth floor of the hospital.
Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital also added eight ICU beds, expanding the unit’s capacity to care for 18 critically ill patients across a broad spectrum of medical and surgical needs. As the Cypress community continues to grow, the hospital is positioned to open an additional eight ICU beds as demand requires.
“From day one, our vision has been to grow alongside the Cypress community and ensure local patients have access to the advanced care they need,” said Trent Fulin, CEO of Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital and senior vice president of Houston Methodist. “The addition of a new dialysis unit and expanded patient capacity through our ICU and medical surgical bed growth strengthens our ability to deliver unparalleled care to the community when and where it’s needed most.”
In addition to expanding access to advanced health care services, the project has reinforced Houston Methodist’s commitment to the Cypress community through job creation. More than 140 new positions are to be created as the hospital continues to grow, bringing both economic and health care benefits to the area.
