CFISD names new chief of staff
Brandy Baker, chief of staff in Pflugerville ISD, was named the new CFISD chief of staff on Dec. 12. Baker replaces Teresa Hull, who is retiring effective Dec. 31.
Baker has 24 years of experience in education. She began her career as a high school math and science teacher and later served as an instructional technology specialist for the Texas Youth Commission in Austin, where she provided professional development and instructional technology support to 14 juvenile justice campuses. In 2007, she was named the associate principal and school improvement facilitator at Johnston High School in Austin ISD, where she led school redesign and turnaround efforts in partnership with TEA conservators, while supporting the launch of two new technology high schools.

In 2009, Baker was named a principal in Hutto ISD, serving five years at Hutto High School, the DAEP and Riverhorse Academy. She led the three campuses with a focus on academic performance, college readiness and student support, while increasing the graduation rate from 87% to 94%. She was promoted to assistant superintendent of school support in Hutto ISD in 2014, serving three years as a senior adviser to the superintendent while overseeing campus leadership and providing oversight of multiple districtwide operational functions.
Baker was named chief academic and innovation officer in Pflugerville ISD in 2017, serving for four years in an executive leadership role overseeing academic systems and district instructional programming. In 2022, she was named chief of staff, coordinating the superintendent’s cabinet and providing executive oversight across multiple district teams. Working alongside the cabinet, she was instrumental in advancing a districtwide five-year strategic plan aligned with Board-approved priorities and in helping lead planning and community engagement efforts that contributed to voter approval of a $367 million bond.
She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Science Education from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master of Science in both Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Administration from South Dakota State University. Prior to her education career, Baker served in the United States Air Force in a medical role, supporting mission readiness and emergency response.
“I am honored and grateful to join Cypress-Fairbanks ISD as chief of staff. What drew me to Cy-Fair is how clearly the district places students at the center of its work and focuses on learning that prepares them for what comes next. I look forward to serving alongside Dr. Killian, his executive leadership team, our staff, and our community to ensure every student is known, supported, and given meaningful opportunities to succeed.”
