Third Annual Griffin Virtue Run Raises More Than $36,000
More than 550 participants gathered Saturday, September 19, for the Aristoi Classical Academy Booster Club’s Third Annual Griffin Virtue Run, raising more than $36,000 to support Aristoi student-athletes.
Runners and walkers of all ages participated in the 5K, which began and ended at Katy Beer Garden. Following the race, participants gathered to enjoy food, event swag, and live music by SPX-1. Community sponsors, including Showcase Gymnastics, Boardwalk Dental and Good Times Running Co., helped make the event possible and bring the community together.
“This event was about much more than a race. It was about community and virtue,” said Aristoi Athletic Director Terry Boling. “We are formed not only by what we accomplish, but by how we show up for one another.”
Proceeds from this year’s Virtue Run will support the development of a new workout room for student-athletes at Aristoi’s Katy Logic & Rhetoric campus. The Virtue Run has become one of the Booster Club’s largest annual fundraisers since its creation three years ago. The event began with an idea from Aristoi parent and Booster Club’s Athletic Chair Abby Lacey, who wanted to create an all-ages event that would bring students, families, and community members together while raising funds for the school.
“I talked with Coach Boling about creating an off-campus event that would bring the community together,” Lacey said. “We decided on a 5K that could serve as one major fundraiser without interfering with class schedules.”
Now in its third year, the Griffin Virtue Run has become an annual tradition for the Aristoi community. Aristoi Classical Academy and the Booster Club look forward to continuing the event for years to come.
