CFISD names new principal for Reed Elementary School
Rodney Garcia, assistant principal at Salyards Middle School, was named the principal at Reed Elementary School on July 2. Garcia replaces Karen Richardson, who was named the assistant director of emergency management in Tomball ISD.
Garcia has 23 years of experience in education, all in CFISD. He began his career as a third grade language arts and social studies teacher at Bang Elementary School in 2003 before moving up to teach fourth grade social studies at Bang in 2006. He then taught one year of fifth grade at Bang before becoming the behavior interventionist at Bang in 2009. He was then named the digital instructional coach at Bang in 2017. Garcia moved to Ault Elementary School to become an assistant principal in 2018 before being named to his current role at Salyards in 2020.
Garcia has served in various leadership roles on campus and has participated in numerous professional development programs, including the CFISD Aspiring Principal Institute, the N2 Learning Assistant Principal Leadership Academy and Teacher Leadership Academy.
Garcia earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from East Texas Baptist University and his Master of Education in Educational Leadership from American College of Education.
