Jubilee awards 3 Waller ISD teachers with $1,000 each
Jubilee has brightened the end of the school year for three Waller ISD teachers, awarding them $1,000 each as part of its Joyful Heart Awards.
Each semester, the Johnson Development community takes nominations from students, family members of students, and co-workers of teachers and staff at the three schools serving Jubilee. A public vote from a group of finalists determines the winner. Winning for the spring semester are Rachel Walker, a fourth-grade teacher at Robert Roads Elementary; Jessica Taxicharou, who teaches science at Waller Junior High; and Miguel Aponte, a teacher and coach at Waller High School.
“The nominations we received are meaningful reminders of the impact teachers have on our children,” said June Tang, Vice President and General Manager of Jubilee. “We are happy to recognize their contributions but know the real reward for these teachers is seeing their students grow and thrive.”
Nominations for all three winners remarked on the care that each shows their students.
“Jessica leads with heart, determination and unwavering commitment, shaping lives far beyond the classroom,” Kim Loner said in her nomination of Taxicharou.
Co-worker Alyssa Ramirez said Aponte “goes the extra mile for every student and athlete, always leading with patience and care.”
In Walker’s nomination, parent Erica Shott said, “Ms. Walker creates a warm, welcoming environment and inspires her students to grow with creative learning and thoughtful incentives.”

Jubilee team members surprised each winner at their classroom prior to the end of school.
This is the second set of Joyful Heart Awards Jubilee has handed out this school year, with the inaugural $1,000 awards going to Mallory Thomas at Roberts Road Elementary, Shauntanay Blair at Waller Junior High and Yolonda Singleton at Waller High School.
The nomination period for the 2025-2026 fall semester opens Oct. 1 and runs through Nov. 10.
Waller ISD has purchased land for three schools within Jubilee, including an elementary school, the Larry D. Johnson Junior High, named in honor of the late founder of Johnson Development, and Warren Ranch High School. The high school is expected to open in August 2028 and Johnson Junior High possibly opening in August 2029.
Eight builders offer homes priced from the $320,000s in Jubilee — Chesmar Homes, Coventry Homes, David Weekley Homes, Highland Homes, Newmark Homes, Perry Homes, Tri Pointe Homes and Westin Homes. Homes are built with a variety of standard wellness features often considered as upgrades in other communities.
