Science Olympiad teams succeed at state competition
CFISD Science Olympiad teams performed well at the Texas Science Olympiad, held on April 11-12 in College Station.
Sprague Middle School was CFISD’s top team in Division B (middle school), placing 12th overall with 248 points. The following Sprague students placed among the top three in their respective events:
· Shreyes Konduru and Akshaj Mishra – third place, Air Trajectory
· Amogh Hedge and Akshaj Mishra – third place, Scrambler
Anthony Middle School placed 17th in Division B with 333 points. The following Anthony students placed among the top five in their respective events:
· Olivia Cowen and Sophia Lavender – third place, Mission Possible
· Disha Somasetty and Ricardo Cui – fourth place, We’ve Got Your Number
In Division C (high school), Bridgeland High School placed fifth with 191. The following Bridgeland students placed among the top five in their respective events:
· Krishiv Ray and Giriish Purushothaman – first place, Helicopter
· Catherin Lin and Cayla Su – second place, Tower
· Ria Jha and Jayden Lin – second place, Picture This
· Aryan Atri and Hemish Duri – second place, Wind Power
· Cayla Su and Aarush Bhavanam – fourth place, Geologic Mapping

Cypress Falls High School placed 16th with 312 points. The following Cypress Falls students placed among the top three in their respective events:
· Akshdeep Sandu and Elyse DeSilva – third place, Optics
· Sydnie and Witnie Pearson – first place, Write It, Do It
Cypress Creek High School placed 18th with 332 points. The following Cypress Creek students placed among the top five in their respective events:
· Jacob Hawkins and Edward Drylie – third place, Bungee Drop
· Jacob Hawkins and Phaka An – fourth place, Helicopter
Jersey Village High School placed 25th with 392 points. The following Jersey Village students placed among the top five in their respective events:
· Adela Dobre and Carys Farrar – second place, Write It, Do It
· Sparsh Kumar and Zane Khawaja – third place, GeoWizard
· Akbar Dawood and Shawn Jindal – fourth place, Electric Vehicle

Cypress Ranch High School placed 22nd with 368 points. Cypress Woods High School and Smith Middle School also represented CFISD at the state competition.
