The Grand Prairie marks major milestone with groundbreaking of on-site Emergency Services District campus
The Grand Prairie, the first master planned community in Hockley, TX, developed by EMBER, announced today that the construction of the 16,000-square-foot Waller Harris County Emergency Services District (ESD) building #200 has officially broken ground. The anticipated opening of the three-acre facility is summer 2026.
The ESD, located on the south side of Baethe Road, a quarter mile west of Warren Ranch Road, will house fire and emergency medical services vehicles, personnel, and equipment, and is designed to bring critical safety measures as close to The Grand Prairie residents and surrounding area as possible.
“Breaking ground on this vital facility marks a meaningful milestone for The Grand Prairie,” said Joe Grabinski, director of development for EMBER. “Focused on building iconic communities where small-town charm meets modern conveniences, we’re proud to bring this much-needed resource to life as we remain committed to building infrastructure that strengthens public safety and serves the people who call The Grand Prairie home. The presence of an ESD campus enhances the effectiveness of emergency services and builds deeper connections within the community.”
Comfortably located off the beaten path, yet minutes to a variety of conveniences, The Grand Prairie is six miles west of the Grand Parkway and one mile south of US 290. It is located within the renowned Waller Independent School District. Homes are priced from the mid $200,000s to more than $600,000, with various styles and floor plans offered by six esteemed builders including David Weekley Homes, Lennar, Perry Homes, Sitterle Homes, Village Builders, and Westin Homes.
Amenities include a one-of-a-kind welcome experience located within The Grand Prairie model home park, the Sundancer amenity complex slated to open early 2026, miles of interconnected trails, the 70-acre paddle-friendly Lake Ember, a myriad of lakes and waterways, along with 450 acres of dedicated park land which features The Overlook, a 40-foot hill at the heart of the community now open to the public.
When fully complete, The Grand Prairie community will include about 6,000 homes on approximately 1,700 acres.
