The Grand Prairie opens The Starlight, the first of two signature amenity complexes for community residents
The Grand Prairie, a top-selling master-planned community developed by EMBER in Hockley, Texas, announces the opening of The Starlight, a 3.5-acre amenity complex designed to bring neighbors together and elevate everyday living. The Starlight features a 2,875-square-foot resort-style swimming pool with two swim lanes, two pickleball courts and an expansive 4,625 square-foot playground with equipment designed for children from preschool to age 12. The Starlight amenity complex is located in The Highlands at The Grand Prairie, a community village featuring homes built exclusively by Lennar and developed by Friendswood Development Company.
“The Starlight complex offers residents of The Grand Prairie a variety of places to gather, play, exercise and relax – enhancing everyday life and making it easier to enjoy family time together and connect with neighbors,” said Brian Gibson, director of land development, Friendswood Development Company. “It has been our pleasure to work with EMBER to deliver this, and we’re excited about the additional community enhancements coming soon.”
While The Grand Prairie residents enjoy The Starlight amenities, they can also look forward to the opening of The Sundancer, a six-acre recreational complex that includes a family swimming pool, an adult swimming pool, a splash park, a children’s playground, and The Sundancer community center, an elevated 6,700-square-foot event venue that serves as a community gathering place. Occupying a prime vantage point at The Grand Prairie, The Sundancer building features floor-to-ceiling windows offering the best views of the community’s majestic sunsets. Its highly anticipated opening will be later this year.
“We are delighted to announce the opening of The Starlight, the first of two state-of-the-art amenity complexes for all residents at The Grand Prairie to enjoy,” said Joe Grabinski, director of development at EMBER. “Our belief is that great communities are built by creating great lifestyles, and The Starlight is a reflection of that philosophy.”

Along with resort-style amenities, The Grand Prairie offers an abundance of natural attractions including multiple lakes, with two that support recreational kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing. The larger of these is Lake Ember, which measures an expansive 70 acres. Leisure attractions also include miles of interconnected trails, 450 acres of parks, and The Overlook, a 40-foot hill with a spiraling trail leading to a scenic viewpoint.
The strong focus on amenities, paired with a diverse mix of home styles and prices, earned The Grand Prairie a ranking among the nation’s 20 top-selling master planned communities of 2025 on the prestigious annual lists published by independent industry experts John Burns Research and Consulting and RCLCO Real Estate Consulting. This is the second consecutive year for The Grand Prairie to be ranked nationally among the top-selling communities.
Currently, the Grand Prairie is home to about 1,225 families and growing daily. Comfortably located off the beaten path, yet minutes to a variety of conveniences, The Grand Prairie is six miles west of the Grand Parkway and one mile south of US 290. It is located within the highly respected Waller Independent School District. Homes are priced from the mid-$200,000s to the $700,000s, with a variety of styles and floor plans offered by six esteemed builders including David Weekley Homes, Lennar, Perry Homes, Shea Homes, Village Builders and Westin Homes.
When fully complete, The Grand Prairie community will have about 6,000 homes on 1,700 acres.
