Destination Imagination teams advance to DI Global Tournament
Six CFISD Destination Imagination teams earned top-six victories at the Lone Star Finals Affiliate State Tournament, held March 29 at the University of Texas at Arlington, and will advance to the Destination Imagination Global Tournament, scheduled for May 22-25 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Destination Imagination promotes team-building for students in kindergarten through 12th grade who form teams of up to seven students to solve a challenge that incorporates imagination, creativity, collaboration and fun. Teams create a skit with props and scenery that involve one of the following categories: Fine Arts, STEM, Project Outreach and Improvisation. Teams place based on their solution to the team challenge, along with their solution to an instant challenge they receive on the day of specific tournaments.
The following teams qualified for the Global Tournament:
· Team Rockstars from Rennell Elementary School placed first in Breaking Point
· Team Ideas R Us from Warner Elementary School placed fourth in Worlds Beyond
· Team Mystic Minds from Bridgeland High School placed fifth in Less is More
· Team Cypress Problem Solvers from Sprague Middle School placed first in Are We There Yet
· Team Ask Me from Cypress Ranch High School placed fifth in Are We There Yet
· Team The Creation Crew from Smith Middle School placed sixth in High Wire Act.
Team Free Range Fire Extinguishers from Cypress Ranch placed third in the highest level of competition for the Extreme challenge. The Extreme challenge is a challenge specific to Texas.
