Too cute to spook: Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital NICU babies celebrate Halloween
For families spending Halloween in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a festive tradition at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital helped make the holiday feel a little more special.
Parents of the hospital’s tiniest patients chose from a collection of Halloween costumes handmade by current and retired NICU nurses, creating meaningful memories during an unexpected chapter of parenthood as their little ones took part in a festive photo shoot.
“Caring for babies in the NICU means caring for their families too,” Lauren Bussell, NICU manager at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital said. “Our team looks forward to this tradition every year because it’s a meaningful way for us to bring some comfort, joy and normalcy to families during their stay.”
The costumes ranged from sweet treats to Halloween classics, including ice cream cones, superheroes, little critters and fairytale characters.
