In order to earn the award, districts must meet at least 12 of the 14 statewide performance indicators. Not only did CFISD meet all 14, but the district also exceeded the state requirements on 11 of them.

Among the notable achievements were eight student entries in both the Texas Capitol Youth Art Month Contest and the Texas Association of Schools of Art (TASA) Exhibit as well as three public exhibitions put on by the district. Visual Arts students also had 316.5 volunteer hours, well above the state requirement of 60 hours.

In all, Dr. Lee Carrier, CFISD’s coordinator of visual arts, said CFISD campuses participated in more than 26 art contests, exhibitions and events this past year.

“Being recognized as a TAEA District of Distinction for the sixth consecutive year is an incredible honor and a testament to the dedication of our students, teachers, campus administrators and district leadership,” Carrier said. “Earning this recognition year after year reflects our district’s unwavering commitment to providing high-quality visual arts instruction and meaningful experiences for every student to learn, create and succeed.”
