CFISD names new principal for Hancock Elementary School

Natasha Jernagin, assistant principal at Hancock Elementary School, was named the principal of Hancock Elementary School on July 7. Jernagin replaces Tamera Felder, who was recently named CFISD Director of school improvement and transformation.

Jernagin has 15 years of experience in education. She began her career in Spring ISD as a teacher and an instructional specialist. She came to CFISD in 2015 as an instructional coach at Hancock and later became the literacy instructional specialist in 2016.

She was promoted to her current position as assistant principal in 2019 and also served as the summer school principal in 2023.

Jernagin earned her Bachelor of Science from Florida State University and her Master of Arts from the University of California at Berkeley. She obtained her teaching certification from the Region 4 alternative certification program and her principal certification from Lamar University.

“I am deeply honored and blessed to be named the principal of Hancock Elementary,” Jernagin said. “It has been a privilege to be part of a community with such exceptional students, dedicated staff and supportive stakeholders. I have learned so much during my time at Hancock and I look forward to building upon its strong traditions and continued excellence. Together we will make sure our students receive a high-quality educational foundation within CFISD.”
