CFISD names new principal for Salyards Middle School

Steve Miller, director of instruction at Spillane Middle School, was named the principal at Salyards Middle School on Sept. 19. Miller replaces Stacie Everson, who was named assistant superintendent for elementary school leadership on Aug. 29.

Miller has 22 years of experience in education, with 21 years in CFISD. He began his career at Budewig Intermediate School in Alief ISD in 2003, teaching fifth grade math and science. He joined the staff at Goodson Middle School in 2004, where he taught and served as a team lead. Miller was named an assistant principal at Cypress Woods High School in 2007 before moving to Spillane in 2009 to serve as an assistant principal. He was named to his current role at Spillane in 2018. 

Miller holds multiple certifications, including his Principal Certification and Superintendent Certification. He has also served as a summer school principal four times and has served as an assistant principal and director of instruction mentor. 

Miller earned his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Wyoming and his Master of Educational Administration and Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University. 

“I am truly grateful and excited to serve as the new principal of Salyards Middle School,” Miller said. “It is a privilege to join such a vibrant community of students, staff and families. I look forward to building meaningful relationships, celebrating our proud traditions and continuing the legacy of excellence that makes Salyards so special. Go Bengals!”
