CFISD names new principal for Emmott Elementary School
Carrie Austin, assistant principal at Hancock Elementary School, was named the principal of Emmott Elementary School on June 26. Austin replaces Jessica Hernandez who will retire at the end of June.

Austin has 24 years of experience in education. Her career began as a classroom teacher in Aldine ISD. She came to CFISD as a classroom teacher at Duryea Elementary School in 2008 and later became an instructional specialist in 2018.
Austin was promoted to assistant principal at Wilson Elementary School in 2020 and also served as a summer school principal at Wilson and Hancock. She accepted her current role as assistant principal at Hancock in 2023.
Austin earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and her Teacher Certification from Lone Star College—CyFair. She earned her Master of Education in Education Administration from Prairie View A&M University.
“I am honored and excited to join Emmott Elementary as the new principal,” Austin said. “I am deeply committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment while honoring the proud traditions that make Emmott such a special place. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, students and families to serve and strengthen our school and community.”
