District 16-6A boys’ basketball players earn 2025-26 league honors
District 16-6A boys’ basketball coaches recently released the 2025-26 16-6A All-District Boys Basketball Team following Cypress Springs High School’s historic run to the state semifinals.
Cypress Ranch High School senior guard Josh Goodwin, a Northeastern commit, was named District MVP after leading the Mustangs to the regional finals while averaging 24.7 points per game. Cypress Woods High School senior guard KD Layton earned Offensive MVP honors, while Cypress Springs senior forward Ife Bolaji brought home the district’s Defensive MVP award for the second-straight year.
Bridgeland High School sophomore guard Sergio Cabrera was recognized as the district’s Newcomer of the Year, and Cypress Springs Head Coach Larry Boykin earned Coach of the Year honors after leading the Panthers to a second-straight district title and the furthest playoff run of any team in school history.
In all, the district recognized 38 athletes from seven different CFISD schools. The full list of honorees is below.
