WeVideo is a web-based video learning and creation platform designed to give students and professionals the power to create, communicate and collaborate with video. Students dedicated time after school to create video submissions with Reed club sponsors, Dr. Peter Libreros and Julie Warnasch.

“In CFISD, we are fortunate to have a plethora of educational technology tools that students can utilize in class,” Dr. Libreros said. “WeVideo allows students to demonstrate their learning in a creative and unique way by producing, editing and publishing their own videos. These skills will follow them for the rest of their lives.”

Students aiming for a level one certification created original content while learning to collaborate with peers, view teacher feedback and use WeVideo editing tools to make original content. Students aiming for a level two certification learned to gather media in WeVideo, build sequences with video clips, add text, edit audio and create visual effects while using WeVideo effects tools to publish videos. Students used content from argumentative essays and biographies and turned them into compelling videos to complete their certifications.

“This certification represents more than just technical proficiency,” said Amanda Campbell, CFISD technology and training coordinator. “Students have gained invaluable 21st-century skills. Their videos show that they are creators, communicators, collaborators and critical thinkers. These transferrable skills will serve them well for their future academic success and beyond.”
