Business partner donates jump ropes to Keith Elementary School
Sherman On, managing partner with Modern Woodmen of America, visited Keith Elementary School on Oct. 6 to donate approximately 400 jump ropes to the campus.
Each year, Modern Woodmen of America uses a portion of its revenue to give back to the community. This year thousands of jump ropes were purchased to give out to local schools.
“We look at giving back as an organization,” On said. “We know that teachers spend their own money on their classrooms, and we want to give back to the schools in a variety of different ways. This is one of those ways. Partnering with our teachers and our local schools is a very big need and this is an opportunity to be more impactful.”
Dana Marquart, Keith P.E. teacher, shared that Keith will use the jump ropes during their jump rope unit. She’ll also spearhead giving some of the donated jump ropes to other CFISD elementary schools.
“Our kids love jumping and practicing new skills during recess,” Marquart said. “It’s so awesome to have this support within our community. Keith has benefited from a lot of generous people throughout the years, and we are so appreciative.”
Keith is also a longtime American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge participant, and the donated ropes will help students compete in the event.
“Keith Elementary School is honored to receive this generous donation of jump ropes,” said Marla Tolls, Ketih assistant principal. “The Kids Heart Jump Rope Challenge has been a traditional spring event for many years at Keith and our students will be thrilled to learn they may earn their own jump rope this year at the conclusion of this jumping rope unit. Community partners, such as Sherman, provide relevant and meaningful opportunities for our students to continue learning beyond the walls of the classroom in fun and engaging ways. His support is greatly appreciated!”
