CenterPoint Energy Update: More than 100,000 customers restored after severe storms in Greater Houston area
On May 27 at 9:26 a.m., CenterPoint shared an Energy Operational Update that more than 100,000 customers restored following severe storms overnight in Greater Houston area.
Overnight and into this morning, slow-moving storms with strong wind (gusts up to 60 – 70 mph in some locations), lightning and downed trees caused approximately 167,000 power outages across the Greater Houston area, with 94% of our customers not having any interruptions. As of 9:15 a.m., CenterPoint Energy crews have restored more than 100,000 impacted customers. We planned ahead for the weather and holiday weekend and brought in additional crews. We know how important it is to have reliable electric service. Our enhanced workforce has been deployed across the system since midnight last night, with extra crews working to safely repair equipment and restore power to the remaining customers without power as quickly as possible. We appreciate the patience of our customers who were impacted overnight. For more information and real-time updates, follow us on social media at X and visit our Outage Tracker.
