CFISD names new asst. superintendent for secondary administration

Ana Martin, principal at Cy-Fair High School, was named the new assistant superintendent for secondary school administration on Aug. 29.

Martin has 33 years of experience in education, all in CFISD. She began her career as a teacher at Cy-Fair High School, where she taught for two years. She was then named a teacher leader and mentor teacher at Cypress Falls High School, serving five years before being named assistant principal at Cypress Ridge High School in 2006. After three years as an AP, Martin was named director of instruction at Cypress Ridge and served three years before being named principal at Kahla Middle School in 2012. She led Kahla for four years before assuming her current role as Cy-Fair High School principal in 2017.

At Cy-Fair, Martin led a high-performing, demographically shifting campus while maintaining academic excellence and staff cohesion. She was active in the Rice University Leadership Partners, NAESP Leadership Immersion Institute and New Principal Institute.

She earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Teaching and Master of Education in Educational Psychology from the University of Houston, and an additional Master of Education in Administration from Sam Houston State University.

“I am honored to serve in this new capacity and grateful for the experiences at Cy-Fair High School, Kahla Middle School, and Cypress Ridge, Cypress Springs and Cypress Falls high schools that have shaped me as a leader,” Martin said. “I look forward to supporting our students, communities and principals in strengthening the culture of excellence that defines CFISD.”
