CFISD recognizes National Board Certified Teachers
CFISD recognized nine educators who completed National Board Certification—a voluntary advanced professional certification for pre-K-12th grade educators that identifies teaching expertise through a performance-based, peer-reviewed assessment—during the Board meeting on April 14.
CFISD’s teachers are among a select group of approximately 125,000 educators nationwide to earn Board certification. National Board Certification is the “gold standard” of teaching credentials and is a rewarding but rigorous process that directly impacts student growth and success.
The following CFISD educators were recognized as National Board Certified (NBC) teachers:
- Alicia Montes, Cypress Woods High School
- Haydee Penn, Sprague Middle School
- William Spaulding, Cypress Ranch High School
- Sara Tovarez, Cypress Lakes High School
- Julian Dunn, Langham Creek High School
- Katelyn Wisnowski, Cypress Creek High School
- Carole Lueb, Post Elementary School
- Michaela Stots, Horne Elementary School
- Ruby Chapman, Matzke Elementary School

To become a Board-certified teacher, eligible candidates must demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills and practice in their individual certificate area by completing four components:
- Content Knowledge
- Differentiation in Instruction
- Teaching Practice and Learning Environment
- Effective and Reflective Practitioner
“We are extremely proud of our newest National Board Certified teachers. They exemplify the best qualities of a CFISD teacher leading students down The Path to Amazing!,” said Dr. Ashley Clayburn, assistant superintendent of district improvement and accountability.
