Cypress Tops the Nation as America’s Most Moved-To ZIP Code
Americans are on the move and Cypress, Texas is leading the way. In 2024, more than 25.8 million people, or 7.8% of the U.S. population, relocated to a new home. While moving is nothing new, factors like affordability, climate, and lifestyle are reshaping where people choose to live, with suburban areas emerging as the most popular destinations.

Cypress Leads the Pack
At the start of 2025, Cypress (ZIP 77433) recorded 3,638 inbound moves, more than any other ZIP code in the country. Located just northwest of Houston, Cypress offers an appealing mix of affordable housing, with the average home price around $415,000, abundant green spaces, and family-friendly amenities. Many families and young professionals are choosing Cypress for its balance of space and community while remaining within commuting distance to Houston’s thriving job market and cultural attractions.
Cypress isn’t alone in this trend Katy (77493), another Houston suburb, landed in the top five most popular ZIP codes with 3,215 moves. The appeal of highly rated schools, family-friendly neighborhoods, and relative affordability continue to draw families to the area.

Texas: A Migration Hotspot
Texas is by far the most moved-to state in 2025, claiming 29 of the top 100 ZIP codes for inbound moves—nearly a third of the list. From suburbs of Houston like Cypress and Katy, to booming communities near Austin and Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas is reshaping the migration map. Affordable housing, no state income tax, job growth in industries like tech and energy, and a warm climate all contribute to the state’s appeal.
The data also highlights a larger national shift: movers are flocking to suburban and exurban communities just beyond major metro hubs. These areas offer more space, newer housing, and access to good schools, while still being close to job centers and urban amenities.
A Defining Shift in Where Americans Call Home
The migration patterns of 2025 underscore how Americans are prioritizing quality of life over proximity to city centers. With Cypress at the very top of the list, it’s clear that families and professionals alike are drawn to the community’s unique combination of affordability, opportunity, and lifestyle.
As suburban communities continue to grow, they aren’t just absorbing new residents they’re shaping the future of how and where Americans want to live. And for now, Cypress is at the heart of this movement.
