LSC-CyFair Spotlights Interns Securing Paid Real-world Experience for Future Careers
National Intern Day July 30 celebrates the contributions of interns and Lone Star College-CyFair is also recognizing successful interns with the recent launch of the Falcon Intern Spotlight series on social media beginning with 2025 alumni Michael Rodriguez Caskey and Lillian Delgado.
These alumni are among the hundreds of completers of LSC-CyFair’s Falcon Internship Program (FIP) since its 2024 inception who have gained valuable hands-on, real-world experience through paid internships.
Caskey, who is now a business major at the University of Houston-Downtown and the July Falcon Intern Spotlight, said his FIP experiences contributed to his successful past year at 3 Men Movers, first as a sales intern and now as Sales Consultant.
“FIP helped me identify my strengths, improve my communication skills, especially in interviews, and gain confidence when interacting with employers,” said Caskey. “Through workshops and career guidance, I learned how to present myself professionally, create an effective resume and pursue internship opportunities that aligned with my academic and career goals.”
He cited FIP’s resume writing workshop as the most valuable one, particularly for others like him in their 20s and not much work experience.
“It (the workshop) made me very confident and also gave me an edge because I had like professional guidance on how to make it look great with the limited experience I did have,” he said.
Delgado, an inaugural FIP member whose secured three internships and the June Falcon Intern Spotlight, agreed saying “It starts with the resume – tailoring your resume to the job specifically.”
Her first internship was as social media marketing intern/assistant for LSC-CyFair’s Communication Department while earning her associate degree. Then, while in pursuit of a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems with a minor in Marketing at the University of Houston’s C.T. Bauer College of Business, she has been a marketing specialist intern at Aspen Fiber Networks and currently is a business and marketing intern at MACH Engineering.
“I try to get like a different kind of experience at each one so that way, I’m more well-rounded in marketing,” said Delgado.
