Petra Cares Opens New Automotive Training Center for Houston-Area Foster Youth in Cypress
During National Foster Care Month this May, Houston-area nonprofit Petra Cares is expanding its mission to support at-risk foster youth aging out of the system by opening a new automotive workforce training center in Cypress designed to help young adults build stable careers and brighter futures.
Petra Cares, the charitable arm of Petra Automotive, will officially celebrate the opening of its new training facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 28 at 11629 Telge Rd., Cypress, TX 77429.
The new 7,800-square-foot facility significantly expands Petra Cares’ ability to serve foster youth transitioning into adulthood. The facility increases training capacity by 75%, adds two new state-of-the-art automotive training bays, and will create four new part-time and five new full-time Petra Cares positions.
Petra Cares focuses on providing workforce development opportunities for one of society’s most vulnerable populations — young adults aging out of the foster care system. Through hands-on automotive industry training and career readiness programs, participants can work toward ASE Certification while also earning a Certificate of Completion from Reynolds and Reynolds for the Title Clerk and Warranty Class.
The expanded training center will allow Petra Cares to continue creating pathways toward long-term employment, independence, and stability for foster youth across the Houston area.
By combining workforce education, mentorship, and real-world career opportunities, Petra Cares aims to equip students with valuable skills and certifications that can lead to sustainable careers within the automotive industry and related fields.
